Founded in 1974 by Bernard “Buck” Runser, Valley Beverage was located in Waterville, Maine and distributed only three brands: Budweiser, Michelob and Knickerbocker. In the next six years the company grew quickly and moved to a new location in Oakland, Maine.

In 1984, Mike Runser, a second-generation family member, joined the business and today is President and CEO. Continuous growth over the next few decades led to several facility expansions and service innovations.

In 2018, Valley Beverage acquired Federal Distributors in Lewiston, Maine. Today our team serves the central Maine region from our distribution facility in Lewiston, Maine.

In 2021, Alex Runser, a third generation family member, joined the business.

In 2023 Valley acquired a portion of Craft Brewers Guild of Maine. The acquisition added many popular Maine craft beers to our portfolio.

As a family-owned company, Valley Beverage is committed to providing exceptional service and a diverse portfolio of products to meet our customers needs. Though we have far more brands and services than when we started, the one constant over the years has been our dedicated, passionate and motivated workforce. We look forward to continuing the journey.
